Highlights of the Week: April 25 - May 1

CONGRATULATIONS to Bryce and Elise Dufort, who received the Sacrament of First Eucharist at the 9:30 a.m. Mass today. Bryce and Elise, along with their brother Gabriel and parents Sarah and Skyler, are moving to Kitimat this week, and would not have been here to receive the Sacrament with their class. We thank Skyler for his several years as Maintenance Coordinator for the Parish Education Committee, and the work he has personally done around the school, and wish the whole family all the best in their new venture. We will miss you!

THANK YOU

  • to the students who participated in Speech Arts this year, who did such a wonderful job on their presentations. Thank you also to Mrs. Prost for organizing and hosting the event, and to our judges: Ola Kubiak, Lise Tetrault, Pat Gillespie and Sara Lindenhoff.

  • to those who helped with the Spring Market today. It is still going on as I type this, and seems to be a very successful event! Perhaps this is one that will only get bigger and better through the years!

INFORMATION:

  • Registration is underway for the 2nd Annual St. Mary’s Golf Tournament. To register you may fill out a form that was sent home in the April newsletter and return it to the office or you can also register online at saintmarysschool.ca/golf

  • At a recent school Mass, Father Guy told the children to ask their parents to review each Wednesday's Mass readings with them on Tuesday nights, so the children are prepared to listen to and respond to the readings at Mass. He strongly emphasized that this is the responsibility of parents, not teachers (although teachers often do go over scripture in class). The Canadian Mass readings can be found here.

  • Speaking of Father Guy, Pastoral Appointments for 2022 were announced last week by the Archdiocese and sadly, Father Guy will be leaving us to go to Christ the Redeemer Parish in West Vancouver. His successor as Assistant Pastor is Father Giovanni Schiesari.
