Weekly Highlights: April 8-14

Do you realize it's been a month since we've had a full five-day week of school?  This spring seemed so strange with the juxtaposition of Spring Break and Holy Week.  It's always good to get back into regular routines!

THANK YOU

  • to the lectors and choir members who helped at this morning's Mass, along with the staff who prepared them.  Thank you also to any other school families who attended, especially those who wore uniforms.  It is always good when our parishioners see that our school is well-represented.

  • to those who were selling tickets for the Spring Salad Evening after the Masses

INFORMATION

  • We still require some strong people to come and help put away the risers one morning this week.  If you are available, please email me (jsallos@saintmarysschool.ca) or call the school, so we can set something up with our maintenance man!

  • Solar Eclipse:  while our region is not in the path of totality for the eclipse, if our weather is sunny tomorrow, we would be experiencing a partial eclipse.  Looking at the sun could be very dangerous, and thus we will follow the lead of other schools and plan our outdoor time around the time of the eclipse.  I am attaching an information sheet from School District 33 which talks about the risks involved and ways to stay safe!

  • We have a fun contest happening in the school that parents are encouraged to take part in.  Mrs. Netzlaw asked staff members for baby/childhood pictures and these are on the bulletin board near the main door.  You are welcome to take an answer sheet and try to identify who is who!  There could be a prize involved............

  • SJB is offering some summer camps (basketball, volleyball and theatre) - please see the attached flyer for details

REMINDERS

  • Grades 4/5, 5/6 and 7:  please be sure to return your permission slips for the field trip to the SJB Musical this Thursday

  • Tickets are on sale for the Ladies' Spring Salad Evening - get yours before they sell out!

  • Basketball games for Grades 4/5 are now beginning.  Please remember that you need to arrange a ride for your child to and from the game. If you have made arrangements with another family for transportation, please do advise the teacher/coach about this.  Please try to have arrangements made prior to game day so the office is not having to pass messages back and forth (this takes up a surprisingly large amount of time!).

  • If you have received any absentee note forms, please fill them out and return ASAP.  Next month we will be notified as to which students will be audited for attendance, and it will save everyone a great deal of time and effort if these notes are already on file.  Thank you!
