Highlights of the Week: April 24-30

THANK YOU

  • to the students who sang O Canada at the Chilliwack Chiefs game on Tuesday (and to their families for bringing them).  We had some lovely compliments, and have been asked back for next year.

  • to all who were able to attend the Annual General Meeting on Thursday night - congratulations to the Monteiro family for winning the tuition draw.

  • to the team who ran the Spelling Bee on Friday afternoon, led by Mrs. Prost.  Congratulations to all who participated, and a special congratulations to Zephyr Oakley who will be representing St. Mary's at the CISVA Spelling Bee on Tuesday!

INFORMATION

  • As you may have read in the bulletin, seen on social media and/or heard at Mass this weekend, Pastoral Appointment announcements were made on Thursday.  We are sad to be saying good-bye to Father Wilfred, who will be moving to St. Anthony's Parish in West Vancouver, but very pleased that our current assistant pastor, Father Gio, will be taking on the role of Pastor.  He will be assisted by Fr. Felix Min.  The official change takes place in July.

  • Student-Led Conferences:

    • in the past, you were asked to sign up for a time to come and visit the school with your children.  This year, we have decided to hold the Student Led Conferences on a drop-in basis.

    • we encourage EVERY family to take some time to come to the school with your children and see for yourself the work they are doing and the various activities around the school/classroom

    • these conferences are not private - there may be multiple families in the room, and you are encouraged to stay as long as you wish

    • if you wish to have a more in-depth conversation with your child's  teacher, please make an appointment for another time

  • The Kids Who Can are having a vegetable and herb plant sale. All money earned will go to the KWC social justice group. Flyers were sent home by email and paper copy on Friday. If you need a new copy of the form, please let the office know.
